What I Have Tried

Also see Blog Category – What Didn’t Work

This a work in progress because nothing I seemed to do over the initial years had any effect at all on me. Or it made me worse. I hope others don’t waste so much time and money on the wrong treatments. I realise what didn’t work for me, might work for others.

I first saw my local doctor in 1996 after I did not fully recover from a nasty ’24 hour bug’.  But that was a symptom, not a cause. Some friends of mine also caught this virus but quickly and fully recovered. So why did I not recover? I was diagnosed with Post-Viral Chronic Fatigue and that was the start of long journey.

While most of these types of treatment did little for me, some did help to a certain degree and I always learnt something. I understand that some people have had great results with just one type of treatment, so just be aware that these notes are from my experiences.

Doctor (local GP / MD) – 1996 to 2016. It took me 7 attempts over 15 years to finally find an understanding doctor who didn’t look at me sideways and automatically reach for the prescription form. It’s a great help when a doctor is sympathetic to your needs.

Acupunture –  no noticeable improvement

Alpha Stim – 2014. Neurotransmitter balancing via clips that attach to your ear lobes. I actually deteriorated after using this for  a few days.

Autonomic Response Testing –

2000, 2005,2012. I came across A.R.T. when I found Dr Dietrich Klinghardt’s website. He has some interesting treatment options and if I lived in America, I probably would have visited him by now.  I was investigating options in New Zealand and although they offer very different methods of treatment, I decided to visit Dr Jacques Imbeau at Integrative Dental & Natural Health. He had dealt with chronic mercury poisoning cases so I was interested to see how he would approach my situation. I spent almost a year following his program before stopping for various reasons. I have written about my experience here.

Adrenal Fatigue Programs –

Exhausted adrenals was a major contributing factor in my case.

Ayurveda – 2009. I did various massages, relaxation techniques and followed a diet but unfortunately I showed no improvement.

Bio Cleanse – 2003 to 2014. I cannot say that doing these foot baths helped me at all; mainly because measuring any progress is very difficult. I owned one for a number of years. Sold it.

BioFeedback see ART above.

Chelation Therapy – see blog

Coffee Enemas –

2009 to 2016. After some skepticism I had very good initial success with coffee enemas. The theory is that caffeine stimulates the liver and dilates ducts, therefore releasing toxins. This is exactly what I found. The first five I did over the course of two weeks I got approximately 500 to 600 pea size soft ‘stones’ and from then on for the next year only a few came out each time. Coffee enemas were included in the 1972 edition of the Merck manual but perhaps due to it’s low cost and effectiveness, it is not part of mainstream medicine today.

I believe these are worth doing and are not energy sapping at all. Olive Oil/Epsom Salts liver flush. Coffee enemas are not in my CORE program but definitely in my Complementary list. I elaborate more about coffee enemas in this section of the book.

Colonics – 2003. Many ‘cleansings’ but no lasting benefit apart from telling stories for friends.

Diets galore – Alkaline, No/low Carb, Fasting, Juicing, Paleo, Blood type.

Endocrinologist – 2009. Mainstream medicine – manage symptoms with medication. No cure.

Chiropractor – enjoyed these sessions but no lasting benefit.

Detoxing – Off the shelf quick solutions. I think my first one was Blessed Herbs colon cleanse. Effective but not for long term chronic situations. A 3 day cleanse can only do so much.

Earthing and Electromagnetic Fields – I have always been aware of where I sleep and my environment. Cell phone use etc. There are more important areas to fix first in most cases.

EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT is a simple and fascinating self treatment that I used occasionally with some success. It is harmless and in most cases can be beneficial to some degree. It involves tapping major acupuncture meridian points while simultaneously focusing on an unwanted symptoms or issues. This is worthwhile adding to your health toolbox due to it’s simplicity and potential benefits, and it is this reason that I include full explanation and instructions in my book.

Exercise Regimes – initially no exercise was best for me. Energy must be conserved for healing. Shorts walks in nature were helpful.

Foot Baths (see Biocleanse)

Ian Solley – This Cure Works e-Book

Ian has put together an informative book that is based on the understanding that before you can get well, you need to remove any toxic heavy metals. I ended up taking a different route but his info was interesting. The diet he recommends is very close to what my ideal recovery diet was. Basically meat and veges. I was too sensitive for his detox solutions.

Lightning Process (related to Neuro Linguistic Programming)

2009. I completed a 3 day course with Ian Cleary in Auckland, NZ. After giving it 3 very good attempts with the belief that it would work for me, it actually made me worse. My experience is in my Blog. Ian Cleary was a very good instructor and tried his best.

Liver Flush (Olive oil)

This popular liver flush/detox involves drinking one third cup of olive oil and four cups of Epsom salts over the space of twelve hours. Sounds like fun doesn’t it. A lot of people have had great success with this method but whenever I did it I felt very drained to say the least. I felt no improvements and had no surprises come out. Perhaps this technique did not suit my health situation and I would recommend people to try the coffee enema first with its vast array of benefits. I do not provide instructions for this oil flush, but they are readily available on the internet. I am aware of another type of liver flush involving phosphatidylcholine, ox bile and mastica but have not fully researched it.

Mahikari

2013. I was getting desperate here. This is a fascinating spiritual healing technique. After reading the book “Is The Future in Our Hands’ by Dr Tebecis, I visited the local Mahakari centre and had approximately 10 sessions spread over 3 months. I had no doubt that this ‘hands off’ healing technique may help. The people were incredibly warm and welcoming and there was no pressure to join up. After moving out of town I stopped the sessions. I haven’t given up on this yet, but I currently have enough on my plate with other modes of treatment.

Meditation

Briefly – helped to some degree with symptoms but not part of the cure.

Mercury Filling Removal

2008, 4 Amalgams removed. Made no immediate change but very important for getting well without any metal toxins in head.

Mickel Therapy

Neurolink

Neurotransmitter treatment. Neuroreplete

Nutritionists

PH Miracle Diet

Psychiatrists and Psychologists x5. No improvement, just stressful and expensive.

Rife Machine

Saunas. Standard, Far-Infrared metallic, lightbulb DIY type

Tests and more tests – Hair, Urine, blood

To be continued…

  • Anti everything – Biotics, Viral, Parasite, Anxiety, Depressants. A merry go round of pills. Beta-Blockers
  • B12 shots, Vitamins and Minerals supplements. Thousands of dollars on these
  • Various heavy metal Detox. Mercury, Lead, Arsenic were elevated on my tests.
  • Acupuncture and other Chinese Medicine treatments
  • DHEA therapy.
  • And other Quackery in general which I have gladly forgotten.
