Dr Jacques Imbeau

Dr Imbeau is a dentist but also has an alternative medicine practice. He uses quality supplements which include homeopathics. Dr Imbeau uses a form of Biofeedback, called Autonomic Response Testing. The results from this machine are interpreted by Dr Imbeau and a program is produced.

He provides a metabolic programme based on naturopathic and homeopathic principles. Supplements make up the majority of this program. Some minor diet changes may also be part of it.

His assistant Suzanne is also his wife and they are both very friendly, knowledgeable and encouraging. Emails were always answered promptly throughout my treatment and it was always good to have a chat at each appointment. In hindsight, it was those visits that actually kept me motivated to continue, because progress was so limited. I was advised of the cost of treatment and that recovery takes approximately as many months as the numbers of years I had been ill. That made it 15 months which I decided was fine and affordable.

The initial consultation involved being tested via a biofeedback method. A piece of metal was placed near my collar bone and he proceeded to test a number of different vials through the system. I understand that the vial is added to the circuit, which includes me, and a result is produced. For example, if I had a gut infection and a vial containing that infection was added, then the machine would let the operator know and he or she could then decide what course of action to take.

I found this fascinating but I didn’t see any results or find out which infections or imbalances I had. I did inquire but I understood that these results could only be interpreted by Dr Imbeau so I trusted him with this. This initial test showed that my overall body condition was around 60%, which I agreed with. He explained ‘what was causing what’ and it all made sense to me. I was desperate for some solutions and I didn’t have any other options on the table at that point. Any supplements provided were directly from the results of the test.

Over the years I had bought a lot of supplements so I was quite surprised when I saw the list I now needed. Spending $200 -$300 per week on supplements is definitely on the high side. This did fluctuate over time.

Imbeau Supplements

I took a couple of days to decide what to do as I felt like there were just too many supplements. And it wasn’t just a cost issue; I just thought it was too many supplements for a sick body. But I was committed to getting well and felt that this was my best option at the time.

I was desperate and vulnerable, but it was obviously my decision to go ahead. The first 6 weeks were tough going and I considered pulling out but Suzanne encouraged me to keep going and I’m glad that she did.

A month later I was tested again and according to Dr Imbeau, there had been some improvements. We had been concentrating on getting my gut working again and this involved killing some unhelpful bacteria. According to Dr Imbeau, I was doing well and working my way through these issues. I knew that getting better was always going to take  a long time but over the following months I felt I could have been doing more in other aspects of my life, such as a stricter diet, saunas, and perhaps some form of meditation or lifestyle changes. I kept searching for these.

The supplements and testing seemed to be going well but I also understood that what happened in between monthly visits was also very important. To rely solely on supplements and minor diet changes was in my opinion, not a complete recovery program, and I felt I was missing a few pieces of the puzzle.

Imbeau Supplements

I persisted for nearly a year and it was a lot of hard work for very little gain. Each appointment I turned up quite demoralized but after being tested again, receiving good results and talking to both Dr Imbeau and Suzanne, I felt encouraged to continue. By this time I had spent around $7500 on consultation and supplements and was beginning to realise that this couldn’t go on for too much longer as I hadn’t been well for over a decade and had very little income and had spent a lot already on trying to get well. If I was to recover in ’15 months’ then I needed a miracle to happen over the next 3 months. At the rate I was going, there was just no way this was going to happen. There were no black and white results to see what improvements I had made and what else had to be done. That’s why I am now very supportive of properly interpreted Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis.

Dr Imbeau’s interpretation was telling us that I was physically about 90% well, but I certainly didn’t feel it. I was still down at 60-65%. I had definitely got rid of some niggling symptoms but generally I was still in really bad shape. I felt like I had improved about 5% but I couldn’t even be sure of that at times.

At this rate I was going to be here for another couple of years and potentially spend over $20000 which I just didn’t have. If I had been making good progress and feeling like I was really getting somewhere and still had complete confidence in the program, then I probably would have continued. But I couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel and after much thought and discussion, I decided to finish treatment.

Dr Imbeau was open to any other ideas that I had and we discussed adding other treatment options. The problem was that the primary program was not working that well for me and trying to find and incorporate other modes of treatment was beyond me.

I needed more measurable results and control over my own health. Too much of it relied on Dr Imbeau and the machine. The biofeedback method was a mystery and something just didn’t feel right about the overall program. Too much depended on the testing procedure and these cryptic results that only Dr Imbeau could interpret.

We did achieve a small amount and I learnt a few things but it was obvious I needed a more holistic and thorough program with multiple and complimentary modes of treatment that I had responsibility and control over. I learnt not to give that much responsibility and control to one person. I don’t think it’s healthy to have a ‘healing God’ if that’s the right way to put it. It’s asking for disappointment down the road.

If I keep seeing good results with what I am doing now then I think Dr Imbeau’s program could be adapted and would then stand a much better chance of helping people get well. In terms of support, they were great; but it’s the results that really matter. Apparently he has had a lot of success but I am yet to see any genuine testimonials online or talk to anyone who suffered from similar issues. A big factor for me was that it was just too expensive in the end. The cost/benefit ratio was not good in my experience. Paying this much isn’t necessary.

As I did not undergo any serious dental work, I cannot comment on this area of the business. Due to Dr Imbeau’s very professional attitude and setup, I suspect he would have many happy customers.

I will edit this Dr Jacques Imbeau Review if I have anymore beneficial information to add.  JH – May 23, 2014.

Hey, do you mind sharing a little bit more about your situation/ailments and how you’re doing now? I’ve been seeing a doctor for 2 years in Arizona but I’m thinking about trying the paracelsus klinik in Switzerland. I’d like to compare our cases a little bit and maybe we can help each other out. I’m very interested in genetic testing as I’ve had digestive/detox problems ever since I can remember and I’m dealing with chronic jaw bone infections and problems healing (to say the least).. which is how I found Dr. Imbeau online. I have to say I’m really discouraged with the amount of supplements he prescribed you. I’m able to take some supplements now that my digestion is much better but I’ve been doing intravenous therapy for over 2 years now and it’s helped tremendously, especially for those with chronic/parasitical digestive problems. IV’s can expedite your healing process 10 fold and in some cases are the best solution.. Do you know if Dr. Imbeau does prolozone and or ozone therapy? I’m much more interested and in need of his dentistry expertise.

Hi, month by month, I’m making progress. For years I just went around in circles not getting anywhere which was incredibly frustrating. My program is very simple, and uses only a few core supplements. Too many is too confusing for our systems. You must get to the bottom the jawbone issues. Have you had an ultrasound? A safe method Dr Imbeau uses is called a TAU scan or ‘Cavitat’. This is non-invasive procedure and unlike x-rays, it does not involve the use of radiation.

Getting your jaw cleaned up is crucial, it is part of the foundation. It can be expensive but it is critical to tick this box. Surely someone has these machines in Europe.

I do not know if Dr. Imbeau does prolozone and or ozone therapy. I have heard IV’s and Ozone therapy can be a great help but I have had very little experience with these.

Email me via the contact page if you want to chat in private. Cheers, John

I had a very similar experience to yourself. I eventually pulled out due to the on-going high costs and it just seemed to never end in regards to testing, supplements, and preparation. I understand the need to get the body into a fitter state before any dental work is finally done, but in the end, I would have had no money left for any of the actual dental work that I needed doing. Everything went on travel to get there, consultation costs, testing and supplement costs. And each time I went, I was told I needed more “preparation.” Diet, supplements, consults, tests–In the end, I had to pull out. Often, sick people are either unable to work part-time or may not be able to hold down a job at all and may be on a benefit. So if they do have toxic dental problems that need attending to, the on-going costs of the pre-prep consults may break them before they can ever get the dental work itself attended to 🙁

Hi Bex, I’m sure we aren’t the only ones; by the time we find out what needs to be done, we’re usually running out of money and/or not able to work as much as we need or would like to. That is one advantage of Nutritional Balancing, it’s relatively inexpensive while preparing anyone for any dental work while simultaneously healing the body. Doing and taking too much just adds more stress. Getting the dental part of the equation is important though, it’s not something anyone wants to revisit again and again. All metals must come out and x-rays should confirm this. I advise anyone to get second opinions on any results to make absolutely sure the dental side of things has been done properly or as well as it can be for the time being. If I was to do any pre-dental preparation, I would want to know what is going on in my tissues and a hair test can show that. Too many supplements for a sick and tired body is a waste of time and money.

Absolutely. It has been years since I was there and they may have changed their protocols. I understand he is a very good dentist, I’m just not sure about their nutrient re-balancing / detox / healing program.

I am currently looking to go and see Dr Imbeau for some dental work. Unfortunately he has suggested the same (very expensive) regime of healing through supplements prior to the work being done. As everyone has stated above, it is costly and not necessarily that productive. I really just need my dental work (root canal removal) done with the protocols he follows and there is no one else in New Zealand who does it. I wish so badly that there were other options!.

I switched to Lake Road Dental in Takapuna. Hopefully they can do what you require. They took out my amalgams 8 years ago with all the right equipment.

Well I was luckier I guess, it took about 3 months for my health to go from a Dr Imbeau score of low 60’s to high 80’s which enabled me to progress onto the amalgam removal process, on about 12 teeth, which took about 6 weeks but it could have been done quicker if I had wanted too. I felt I needed a decent break (as Suzanne had suggested) after a 2.5 hour dental session.

The supplements consisted of about 13 different types of pills-vitamins-minerals etc, and about 13 bottles of homeopathic type liquids. That adds up to approx $7,000 in supplements and similar in dental fees. I don’t remember ever being told how much the supplements would be because for me that’s a scary amount and I probably would not have gone ahead, so maybe it worked out better this way.

I still have the mercury detox to do and Suzanne could not give me an idea of price, although she said it could take 2-3 months for a quick/intense detox, or 1 year for a slow detox, and she could not say which was the cheaper way to go. If past monthly supplement prices are to go by I’d guess about $2,000 a month, or probably more.

At this stage I could not say if I feel any better, parts of me do, and parts feel worse. Not until I do some kind of mercury detox will I know.

Hi Smithy, sorry for the late reply. How are you going, any progress? One major positive is that the amalgams have been safely removed; so no more breathing and swallowing toxins. They may not have been causing you any issues but better out than in. My scores were also going up but when I wanted to find out exactly what was improving, I never got answers. It was like a secret algorithm. I could have blown $20k+ here easily, which I didn’t have at the time so I probably would have had to stop treatment.

Be very careful which intense/fast detoxing. This is where people can really get into trouble because our bodies have been storing these toxins away in ‘safe’ places and then we go and actively mobilise some it which can cause a lot of pain and suffering. Mobilising is easy, excreting is much harder. All the best with your recovery.

Hi, just wondering if anyone has had a root canal from dr imbeau? I’ve had a lot of ongoing pain and want safe treatment, but $7 k is way too much.

Hi Karen – Yes, $7k is too much when there is no accountability! So what did you do in the end now that a year has passed? I wouldn’t recommend root canals at all, and I’m looking for someone in NZ/Oz to remove the RC’d teeth and infections without costing the earth.

Hi. I have been seeking treatment from Dr Imbeau. Much of what he says make intuitive sense but I recently visited to get a treatment plan and was prescribed a dozen supplements and a dozen homeopathic remedies. The cost of this treatment comes to thousands of dollars a month. This is to heal various organs and pathways in my body. I couldn’t really get an answer as to how I had been diagnosed with these issues although I do suffer from poor health. After reading the comments on this blog I am now concerned that this could become a very large investment which may not yield tangible benefits in the form of improved health. I am a firm believer in a holistic approach to health and well-being but also in evidence based methodologies. It would be very reassuring to hear from anyone who has undertaken one of these treatment plans and had positive results.

I would welcome any success stories. My experience was many years ago and their treatment may have changed. I have only heard half a dozen stories that were similar to mine. Some success stories would be good to see.

I haven’t seen any success stories from someone working with Dr Imbeau in the past year, so everyone I know needing that level of dental work (cavitation surgery) has been going to Australia, although that still requires a lot research as I’m in the process of getting second opinions from 2nd and 3rd Australian bio dentists after not yet getting the desired results from the 1st.

Maybe Dr Imbeau does other non-dental work, although I realise it is all related. It’s difficult to find unbiased feedback from some of the protocols they offer. Yet somehow he seems to be busy. Perhaps because he holds a monopoly in NZ. or perhaps because his protocol works.

          2. John H Post author

Obviously his dental work is adequate, but his protocols for chronic illness are questionable. Clients who have surgery with him probably heal anyway so they say the recovery protocol worked when in reality they don’t know what role it played. “Works” for fundamentally healthy people that would recover anyway. There is so much else to recovery than just swallowing extra vitamins but it’s a good business model.

I saw Dr Imbeau last year! I would never ever go back! i felt quite traumatised by the experience! I found him rude and i came out of the consultation feeling very confused with no clear understanding what was happening! i decided right then and there that he was a con-man! i decided to stick to my traditional dentist who i actually like and who is very a honest/genuine dentist. I would not recommend Imbeau to anyone! (i am still not sure to this day why i ventured to Imbeau’s practise, i feel now looking back on it i was just very desperate and had read too many bad/negative stories on line and at the time i felt he was the answer! i learnt quick quickly he was not) I was annoyed i spent $400 to feel horrible afterwards and for nothing.
I eventually found the Anthony William ‘the medical medium’ Oh my gosh he has amazing information! and it is all readily available on his website! he has the best heavy metal detox program it is affordable and it works! Have a look at his website i can assure you he is a better answer and must more affordable than Imbeau.
